Each year, the Student Service and Leadership Awards recognize Loyola Marymount University students who have distinguished themselves as leaders in service “with and for others.”
“Through your commitment to service and justice,” Senior Vice President for Student Affairs said to the recipients, “you have not only integrated your mind, body and spirit, but you have also integrated key aspects of a Jesuit Catholic education.”
Top honors went to seniors Alyssa Perez and Matthew Sugidono, who were recipients of the Fr. Robert Graham Award. The award is presented to the outstanding senior man and woman who, during their tenure at LMU, have excelled in areas of service and leadership.
“The thing I love most about LMU as a Jesuit institution is that I have been challenged not only academically, but also outside of the classroom,” Perez said in her acceptance speech. LMU has made me think about the ways that my education can be used to change the world and help to quite literally transform the hearts and minds of others.”
