LMU Lions women’s senior midfielder Jocelyn Blankenship and men’s junior midfield Adrien Perez have earned All-West Coast Conference Preseason soccer selections.
For the second straight time Blankenship, a 2013 and 2014 All-WCC Second Team honoree, was named to the 11-member preseason squad after finishing her junior season with a team-high six assists.
On Wednesday, the WCC released its women’s soccer preseason coaches poll and preseason All-WCC team, to which Blankenship was named. In the highly competitive league that sent three teams to the NCAA Tournament last fall, the Lions were selected to finish seventh in the poll. BYU was a near unanimous selection to repeat as the WCC champion.
The Lions went 9-8-2 overall and 2-6-1 in WCC play last season. The Lions women’s soccer team plays its first match August 21 versus Rutgers (at Penn State), and the squad’s first home game at Sullivan Field is set for August 28.
8/17/15 UPDATE: LMU junior midfielder Adrien Perez was named to the 11-member Preseason All-WCC men’s soccer team. A two-time first team All-WCC selection, Perez led the Lions and WCC in shots and assists in 2014 while scoring five goals.
In the preseason rankings, the LMU Lions men’s soccer team, which earned two first place votes, was picked to finish fourth place in the highly competitive eight-team conference.
