Four players from Loyola Marymount University’s men’s and women’s basketball squads earned spots on the West Coast Conference’s all-conference and all-freshman teams.
Adom Jacko (pictured above), a junior, was named to the 2015-16 All-WCC Men’s Basketball Second Team, and Brandon Brown received an All-WCC Honorable Mention selection, as announced today by the WCC’s league office.
Jacko, a junior college transfer from Chaffey College, has five double-doubles on the season and is still ranked seventh within the WCC in scoring at 16.6 ppg, 4th in shooting at 55.7 percent, 10th in rebounds at 6.4, 8th in blocks at 0.9 bpg and 8th in offensive rebounds at 2.4.
Senior Sophie Taylor, a senior, earned All-WCC Women’s Basketball Second Team honors, and Cheyanne Wallace was one of five players to be a part of the WCC All-Freshman Team.
Taylor leads the Lions with 12.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, including 11.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in WCC play. She led the Lions in scoring 10 times this year and has nine double-doubles, which ranks third in the league. She became the 15th member of LMU’s 1,000-point club on Feb. 27 and, along with her more than 500 career rebounds, is the seventh player to surpass both those marks.
Both teams are set to play in the 2016 WCC Championships in Las Vegas this week.
