It’s On Us: LMU Student-Athletes Promote Sexual Assault Awareness

Doing their part to promote sexual assault awareness, the student-athletes of Loyola Marymount University produced a video for the “It’s On Us” campaign.

Sterling Shuster, a redshirt senior softball player, produced the “It’s On Us” video for the Lions after the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee promoted a contest to go along with the campaign.

“We thought this would be a great opportunity to represent LMU and help spread awareness,” says Shuster, who graduated from LMU in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television Production. She is currently pursuing a master’s in business marketing.

“LMU student athletes have the ability to help drive change,” Shuster adds.

The video highlights the statistics that one in five women and one in 16 men are sexually assaulted in college. The message of the video and from the student-athletes is to “Get up,” according to Shuster.

Don’t just be a bystander,” Shuster adds. “Instead ‘get up’ and do something. Intervene in any way you can.”
