Dr. Lane Bove, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs at Loyola Marymount University, has been selected by the College Media Association to receive the 2017 Louis E. Inglehart First Amendment Award.

The College Media Association Board of Directors and Adviser Awards Committed said of Dr. Bove that it was “very impressed with your continuing work in support of the First Amendment rights of students at your university.”

CMA is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to serving collegiate media advisers. The Louis E. Inglehart First Amendment Award honors professional journalists, advisors or scholars who have made an extraordinary long-term contribution in support of the First Amendment. Bove is one of only a few university executives to receive the honor.

“This is a richly deserved honor,” said Tom Nelson, director of LMU Student Media. “Dr. Bove has been a lifelong advocate of the freedoms protected by the First Amendment, especially speech, the press and religion.”

According to Nelson, the Louis E. Inglehart First Amendment Award is only awarded when meritorious candidates are brought forward.
