Advocating for Action: Ignatian Family Teach-In

This November, 18 LMU students and staff from Campus Ministry and the Center for Service and Action traveled to Washington, D.C., for the 22nd annual Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice. More than 2,000 participants from Jesuit institutions across the country joined the Ignatian Solidarity Network that brings together students, faculty and staff from Jesuit institutions to gather as members of the Ignatian family. In the context of social justice and solidarity to learn, they reflect, pray, network and advocate together in the heart of the nation’s political landscape.

Being a Global Citizen at LMU

Saloni Kanani ‘22 is an international student from Shanghai, majoring in theatre arts and psychology here at LMU. Kanani explains, “I was born in Taiwan, I moved to Shanghai when I was three-years-old, and I’ve lived there ever since. But, I’m ethnically Indian.” On-campus, she’s the entertainment and production chair for the South Asian Student Association and was also in the Haunting of Hannon.

Honoring a Family Tradition of Service

Each year, LMU celebrates and honors those in our community who have sacrificed and served our country through military service. Hayden Schneider ’19 got a full-time job in Los Angeles and transferred to LMU in 2018 from the University of San Diego to pursue a degree in entrepreneurship. He also serves as the president of the LMU Student Veterans Organization on campus, a registered student organization dedicated to serving those who have served by providing a group where veterans, reservists and even family members and supporters of the military to create an environment filled with camaraderie and good humor.
