Soto and his company are the subject of “How A College Assignment Became The World’s Best Tasting Tequila” in Forbes. The story highlights Soto’s background as a Costa Rica native who came to LMU, where he started his company making small-batch, socially-responsible tequila.

His company Nosotros Tequila was recently awarded “Best Tequila” at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, an annual blind taste-testing of thousands of liquors across all categories — judging the spirits solely on their quality and flavor.

“We are the result of a dream, of young people coming together to form an inclusive brand that promotes living life to the fullest,” says Soto, who was an international student from Costa Rica. “We just so happen to have the best tasting tequila out there.”
