New F45 Fitness Program Finds a Home at the BRC

The Burns Recreation Center (BRC) started this year off with a bang by unveiling a long-awaited renovated studio at the beginning of January to host F45, a rapidly growing fitness program. The functional group fitness class is 45 minutes long and utilizes a variety of equipment and different exercise/technique styles to help members to get the best well-rounded workout. The new studio includes turf-covered floors and flat-screen TVs that demonstrate the movements throughout the workout.

Since F45 made a debut on campus, the program has drawn many from the LMU community to packed classes with fast-paced routines. Though similar to other high-intensity programs, members of the BRC say the F45 program stands out by offering a new assortment of exercises during each class. “You’ll never take the same class twice, and you’ll always be learning new ways to work your body,” says F45 trainer Amanda Gordon ‘21.

Certified instructors and LMU student personal trainers assist participants with correct form and help motivate them to push harder. Kelly Kassis, ‘22, who recently took her first F45 class, says she found the class while looking for a shake-up to her ordinary routine.

“A lot of the struggle of going to the gym for people, including me, is figuring out what to do,” says Kassis. “So, the fact that the workout is already created for you and its only 45 minutes out of my day makes it a lot easier to make exercise a part of some of my more busier days”.

Located on the first floor of LMU’s Burns Recreation Center, the FitWell Center is committed to providing health and wellness programming and education for the entire campus. Offerings include a variety of group exercise classespersonal training packages, nutrition consultations, massage therapyfitness assessments and specialized wellness presentations. All programs are available to BRC members only.
